چکیده

Abnormal developments of the cardiovascular system are common congenital malformations. Computational fluid dynamics and mathematical modeling can be used to perform quantitative predictive assessments hemodynamic properties in varied conditions. This article addresses development a coupled 0D–3D model blood flow newborns predict risks complications after surgery. The 0D-model systemic circulations is created by using analogy between vessels current through an electric circuit. A shunted section aorta pulmonary artery replaced with 3D-model two-way fluid-solid interaction (FSI).A vessel aortic valve examined separate 3D-model. Three-dimensional geometry based on real CT-scans patient. algorithm for coupling models different levels relies meeting condition that pressures volumetric flows equal at boundary. We have developed identifying personal parameters from results obtained solving optimization problem. experiments individual made it possible analyze velocities, near-wall stresses, flows, deformations. Observable stresses considered risk factors could cause calcification leaflets other diseases. solutions “aorta – shunt artery” 3D-system allowed obtaining spatial distributions pressures, significant respect probable pathology development. approaches primarily relevant decision-making surgical practice postoperative complications. In future, our plans develop so covers also saturation oxygen exchange. necessary assessing whether supply lungs adequate.

securitization of mortality risks in life annuities

insurers have in the past few decades faced longevity risks - the risk that annuitants survive more than expected - and therefore need a new approach to manage this new risk. in this dissertation we survey methods that hedge longevity risks. these methods use securitization to manage risk, so using modern financial and insurance pricing models, especially wang transform and actuarial concepts, ...

Patient factors may predict anastomotic complications after rectal cancer surgery

PURPOSE Anastomotic complications following rectal cancer surgery occur with varying frequency. Preoperative radiation, BMI, and low anastomoses have been implicated as predictors in previous studies, but their definitive role is still under review. The objective of our study was to identify patient and operative factors that may be predictive of anastomotic complications. METHODS A retrospec...

A patient-specific study of blood flow in a cerebral aneurysm using medical images

Background: Cerebral aneurysm disease causes intracranial hemorrhage by rupturing, which can eventually, lead to organ failure or death. For this reason, it is important to anticipate the reasons for rupturing of a cerebral aneurysm from biomechanical point of view. Investigating this disease may even help the physicians to find treatments and predict the patient’s situation. This research was ...

Common Complications of Endotracheal Intubation in Newborns

Objective The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency of complications of endotracheal intubation (ETI) in neonates. Methods The newborns that were admitted and needed urgent or semi-urgent intubation were enrolled in this study over a 1 year period. Route for intubation in all cases were orotracheal. Cases were not routinely sedated or paralyzed. The patients were clinically and rad...
